A powerful voice with Westminster City
Council |
| |
We are recognised by the City Council as the primary
body with whom it discusses general property and planning
issues. Members'concerns about the City Council's policies
and service delivery gain added force when made by the
WPOA collectively. (N.B. While we do not take up individual
cases we are vigilant in spotting general points which
individual cases frequently raise - and we pursue them
vigorously.)
|
 |
A wider view |
| |
WPOA's primary function is to safeguard the interests
of our members. We also take a wider view of business
within Westminster and across London as a whole. This
enhances our credibility with Westminster.
|
 |
Links with other representative bodies
|
| |
The array of organisations representing business and
property in London can appear daunting. We maintain
sound and constructive links with other organisations
(eg BPF, CPA) over who does what. We know our way around
and are in a sense the "experts" for Westminster.

Networking
|
| |
Our Annual November Luncheon (700 people) is a key event
in the property calendar. Our AGM and Reception in February
is a good opportunity to meet Westminster Councillors
and Officers who always attend. We communicate regularly
through "Westminster Planning" and occasional
Newsletters. We are always looking to improve ways of
keeping in touch with our members (e.g. via periodic
working lunches, site visits and occasional seminars
on topics of the day).

Value for money |
| |
At £600* the annual subscription is good value
as a means of keeping informed on key issues and the
voice of property in Westminster heard loud and clear.
Members automatically receive free of charge copies
of Westminster Planning (produced monthly) - normal
subscription price £200 p.a. Additionally, through
making collective representations on important planning
documents, with significant impacts on investment and
occupation in Westminster - such as the UDP - members
can individually save significantly on the costs of
responding separately.
